Young at Art
March 29 – April 14

An annual exhibit of new works by regional elementary and junior high students celebrating the Art Museum’s ARTworks program in elementary schools in eastern Idaho. Over 500 pieces of artwork from children across five different school districts will hang in the main galleries of the museum. The opening for this exhibit will be a free family day where participants and the general public are invited to view the artwork and then participate in a collaborative large sculptural piece.

2nd Congressional Art Contest
Contest finalists represent excellence in high school art. The winning piece will hang in Washington DC.

Influences in Clay
June 21 – August 18

An exhibit revealing the variety of techniques involving clay that artists incorporate into both functional and sculptural pieces as a means of self-expression. With few wood burning kilns left in the state of Idaho, the exhibit also addresses kiln building and aesthetic choices from this ancient firing method and its continued use in the 21st century.

  Identity, Place & Culture
August 30 – November 3

An exhibit celebrating Latino culture and promoting cross-cultural awareness in eastern Idaho. Based on the art of Idaho Latina artist Alma Gomez and Utah Chicana artist Ruby Chacon, the exhibit is a multi-faceted event that will include traditional folk art from regional artisans, contemporary artwork, a public forum with Gomez and a sound installation and concert by Idaho guitarist/composer Craig J. Green. All exhibit signage will be provided in both Spanish and English. A free family day and cultural celebration will cap off this exhibit.
