TEENS @ TAM
Ambassador Council

2024-2025 School Year

Hey Teens! Ever wondered how museums work?

Want to meet creative students from different schools and learn about art-making together?
Want to install an exhibit at The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho (TAM)?
Are you interested in learning while you work in the museum field?
TAM is offering a one-year paid internship for youth ages 14-18 to gain valuable skills while working in a museum environment at TAM.

Join our Ambassador Council to learn about:

  • How to promote the arts in your high school and at TAM
  • Art making practices
  • How museums work
  • How to write resumes and applications for college, scholarships, etc.
  • How to raise money through community activities
  • How to install and promote an art exhibit

Ambassadors will fill the roles of Lead Ambassador, Treasurer, Photographer/Historian, Blog Lead, Social Media Lead, Visitor Service Lead, and Education Lead, working with museum staff to learn the many different aspects of museum operations. This program’s goal is to improve communication and collaboration skills among Ambassadors while they gain hands-on experience preparing them for a possible career in the museum field. One student form each high school in districts 91 and 93 will be selected through an application and interview process.

This program is for the 2024-25 school year, October 2024 through May 2025. We will meet in person Thursday evenings from 5-7 PM and a few weekends, with major holidays off and seasonal breaks.

Our first meeting will be Thursday, October 3rd, 2024, from 5-7 PM. Students are responsible for their own transportation to meetings. After successfully completing all the required hours and assignments, each Ambassador will be paid a stipend of $280 at the end of the internship, in May 2025.

If you have questions, please email TAM Education Director, Emily Wunderlich ewunderlich@theartmuseum.org or TAM Education Assistant, Jesslyn Low artworks@theartmuseum.org
