Community Chalk Day

Saturday, August 1, 2026 • 10am - 4pm

Celebrate creativity at The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho's Community Chalk Day! On Saturday, August 1, 2026, artists of all ages and abilities are invited to transform the Museum parking lot and neighboring South Capital Park sidewalks into a vibrant outdoor gallery using sidewalk chalk. This year, we're setting aside the competition to focus on what matters most: bringing our community together to create, connect, and enjoy art in a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. Whether you're a seasoned artist or simply looking for a fun afternoon with friends and family, everyone is invited to participate. Participants and visitors will also enjoy free admission to the Museum from 10am to 4pm.

What you need to know:

  • The event takes place throughout the day. Come for an hour or stay as long as you'd like.
  • Sidewalk squares are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Please bring your own supplies, including sidewalk chalk, water, sunscreen, chairs, and shade (such as an umbrella or pop-up canopy) if desired.
  • This is a free, non-competitive community event open to artists of all ages and skill levels.

Chalk Fest is a beloved Community tradition, and we hope to keep the tradition alive with this year's Community Chalk Day, while planning to bring the Chalk Fest competition back next summer, bigger and better than ever! We're actively seeking sponsors to help us expand the event in 2027 with additional activities, community partnerships, and new opportunities for artists of all ages.
