Rolling on the River

Join TAM for our 3rd annual Rolling on the River event, a one-of-a-kind steamroller printmaking experience that brings together art, machinery, and community in a lively outdoor celebration.
During the event, museum artists will use a full-sized steamroller as a printing press to create large-scale woodblock prints, right before the public’s eyes. Visitors can watch the entire process unfold, from inking the carved blocks to the dramatic reveal as each print is pressed under the weight of industrial machinery.
Participation in Rolling on the River is open exclusively to Museum Artists, a membership-based group at TAM. However, artists who are not yet members are warmly invited to join by purchasing a museum artist membership!
Artists interested in participating must submit an entry form by May 1. A block carving demonstration and information session will be held at TAM on May 12 at 4 p.m., offering guidance and tips for artists preparing their designs.
While artist participation is limited, the event itself is free and open to the public. In addition to watching the printing process, visitors will have the opportunity to engage with printmaking in a hands-on way and enjoy free admission to the rest of the museum as well.
We also plan to offer t-shirts and canvas bags for purchase, which attendees can print using pre-carved blocks created by local artists.
