CREATE A FOIL RELIEF

A RELIEF is a sculptural technique consisting of shapes attached to a surface so as to stand out from the surrounding background. The term relief is from the Latin verb relevo meaning "to raise."

SUPPLY BOX

Elmer's glue
Aluminum foil
Paint brush
Markers, assorted colors
Paper towel
Assorted materials such as straws, bottle caps, plastic lids, string, nuts, washers, various shapes of cardboard scraps

DESIGN A RELIEF
Arrange the assorted materials on the piece of cardboard. Experiment with pattern, texture and the layering of smaller objects on top of larger objects.

GLUE YOUR DESIGN
Use glue to attach the assorted materials onto the cardboard. Set aside to dry.

ADD FOIL
