Artist Connection: Contemporary Neurographic Art

Grades: 4–8

Time Required: 2–3 class periods

Project Type: Individual

Materials:

• Portrait templates or student photographs
• Fine-tip markers
• Colored pencils or markers

Avoid Identical Artwork:
Each student develops unique patterns, symbols, words, and color choices.

Instructions:

1. Draw or trace a portrait.
2. Create flowing lines in the background.
3. Fill spaces with patterns and designs.
4. Add color.
5. Leave portrait realistic or stylized.
6. Mount on black cardstock.

Display Tip:
Excellent for identity-themed exhibitions.
